Greetings Classmates,

I wanted to bring you up to speed on plans for the Charlottesville Mini. Please plan to arrive on Monday, May 6 and stay through Thursday, May 9, if possible

I-Module Registration should be available later this week, but as you will read, some of these “events” need to be booked directly by each of you.

Our “Plan” is to feast on Jefferson, his University, the surrounding countryside, historical and beautiful, and, of course, just being together.

Hotels: Jim and I are lucky to belong to Farmington Country Club, 1.2 miles from our home. Farmington has over 39 hotel rooms (lots of Kings, and some double Queens). A full breakfast off the menu is included and the Club also has wonderful informal gathering spaces, a Fitness Center (free for hotel guests), extraordinary views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, tennis, pickleball and one of the best golf courses in Virginia. We have reserved a large block of hotel rooms there for your convenience. If you wish to reserve a room at Farmington for the nights of May 6 - 8, please call 434.296.5661 and ask about the “Dartmouth/Malone block.” The King’s are $312, plus tax, and the double Queen’s are $322 plus tax.

Our Class Dinner will be held at Farmington on Wednesday night, the 8th, in a room designed by Thomas Jefferson while he was President.

The block of Farmington rooms will be available until April 1.

There are also numerous Marriott, Hampton Inn, Hilton, and other chain hotel properties in and around Charlottesville. The University has a new hotel called The Forum located near the UVA Business and the Law Schools, about 2.5 miles from Farmington. The Boar’s Head Inn is across Rte. 250 from Farmington. If you want to do some comparison shopping, please do so. For MapQuest purposes, to see how far away from Farmington you might be, Farmington’s address is 1625 Country Club Circle, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Safe Travels!

What I need NOW. Because I must confirm some reservations in the next 10 days, I need to know the following ASAP, on at least a “pretty sure” basis?

  • Are you planning on coming to Charlottesville?
  • Would you like to do the “Full Tommy” Monticello tour, or perhaps the less demanding Highlights Tour?
  • Are you interested in staying at Farmington?
  • Italian restaurant, Tuesday night?

I can “float” on the rest of the yeses and noes, but the above four questions are important, please.

We will provide more details as we get closer to early May and are happy to answer questions now.

My email address is tammyarm@aol.com. My cell is 434.294.8372.

Jim’s email is jmalone72@msn.com. His cell is 434.294.6037.

Jim and I look forward to hosting you in a “Place Called Home” for many for thousands of years.

Safe travels,

Alice & Jim
