Time Capsule #22 - the Skimobile at Cranmore in North Conway

Our class has its share of ski bums, some of whom are still terrorizing the Gwyneth Paltrows of the world out there on the slopes. (You know who you are, Mark and Jon.)

Some of these classmates grew up skiing on the ice in New England, poor guys.

No doubt someone has memories of the funky Skimobile lift in North Conway at Cranmore Mountain.

Those kiddie car rides were awesome in 1938, when the lift was built.

and the Skimobile had the additional economic advantage of being able to run year 'round. It was a summer tourist destination: the children loved the ride, and mom and dad could enjoy the sweeping view of the White Mountains.

The Skimobile was running all through our time at Dartmouth and wasn't torn down until the late 80s.

Paul Sample, the Dartmouth Artist in Residence for 30 years, retired in 1963, before we arrived, but of course he painted a nice watercolor of the Skimobile.

Hey! If you like the watercolor, it's for sale on eBay for $5K. https://www.ebay.com/itm/386739688467

Okay, Big Greeners, who's been on the Skimobile?

Post script: of course, Mark Totman had been on the Skimobile. Proof in the photos below:
